MLTI’s training costs include coursework and supervised clinical practicum across the multi-year pathway. Current tuition and fees are shared directly with prospective trainees as part of the admissions process. Payment plans are available, and MLTI works with trainees whose schools or districts provide professional development funding or tuition support. Partial scholarship support may also be available through select professional and philanthropic organizations, and we’re glad to discuss those options individually with prospective trainees.
MLTI is a multi-year training pathway that combines coursework with sustained, supervised clinical practice. Beyond the 10-day Summer Intensive, trainees attend virtual coursework one Saturday per month for nine Saturdays each in Year 1 and Year 2, while working consistently with students in their own community as part of the supervised practicum. The pathway requires ongoing preparation, reflection on student response, and open to feedback and mentorship as trainees develop increasing clinical skill and independence. It is not a one time workshop or general overview of dyslexia.
NMPED recognizes qualifying Structured Literacy training pathways as alternatives to LETRs and as potential pathways towards New Mexico’s Reading Endorsement. Because MLTI provides nationally accredited Structured Literacy and dyslexia training leading toward CALP and CALT certification, eligible New Mexico educators may have pathways available through NMPED related to both.
Because these are state-administrative processes and requirements can change, New Mexico trainees and prospective applicants are encouraged to contact MLTI directly for current guidance based on the latest information available from NMPED.
